In the past, I have written a number of articles on the importance of planning for aging-in-place, including a free tool we developed called the Advance Living Directive©.
This Excel spreadsheet is a tool that families can use, together, to establish baselines for performance of Activities of Daily Living and is a great way to start a conversation with loved ones who may need home care help, now or later.
In addition to this tool — partially as a result of it — we were asked last year to work with a Public Television crew to create a video on the issues of planning for aging-in-place and home care. Frankly, we were delighted to do so, not because it makes us at Support For Home look like the best thing since raisin bread, but because we are passionate about this topic.
